The Passing of Bob Iden

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that Sifu Bob Iden of Laughing Ox Internal Arts passed early this month (March 2024). Bob was a very singular individual, the most cheerful of curmudgeons, and together we developed a very deep and exciting understanding of the inner workings of Taiji and their broader implications that I can’t imagine I would have stumbled into, practicing with anyone else.

It is currently unclear how the future of Laughing Ox will unfold; many of its goals remained moving targets over the last several years, and vast reams of written material, video, and audio exist in draft form, unpublished. However, I do not intend to abandon our work, and will continue what elements of it can, in whatever ways I can, into the future. Bob strongly believed that he had developed a truly important and deeply human way of approaching life through this work, and had only just begun to work out how to share it with others.
