Sean is extremely bad at writing about himself in the third person, so he won’t.

I began my experience with Taiji and internal martial arts generally while working on my undergraduate degree at Indiana University Bloomington, with New School T’ai Chi Ch’uan. In the first class, I was used in the demonstration, and Charles pointed out that I was standing on the outside of my forward foot. I had to look down to check, and I haven’t looked back from that moment. This is the formal beginning my life as something of a Movement Nerd.

I have spent the ensuing 20+ years practicing Taiji, Qigong, and various other martial arts (and movement practices generally) as I’ve had the opportunity. In 2014 (after a move to Seattle some years earlier) I was looking for a group to connect with that practiced Master Chen’s version of the Yang style form. I made contact with Bob at that time, and have been working with him ever since.

Together we’ve been working to develop novel approaches to teaching Taijiquan to Western audiences, developing tools for teaching Internal Awareness, and learning to use our interoceptive skills.
