Beginning Where We Are

As previously mentioned, I intend to keep things at Laughing Ox moving forward in some form or another. I have a number of possible options, the ‘simplest’ of which is to keep posting relevant material here.

To that end, I am beginning to process the large archive of email that was exchanged between Sifu Iden and myself over the last five or six years. There are perhaps 300 email threads from this time window in my GMail account, and some of those have 30 or so individual messages in them. Many are short things, of no real consequence to the work Bob and I have been undertaking. Others are many thousands of words digging deeply into topics.

I have decided that I will pull these emails into Obsidian (a Markdown-based “external brain” of sorts) and organize them as best I am able in order to pull out all the material in them that is worth working with. This will obviously take a considerable amount of time and effort, but I think it will be worth it. It’s a thing we had talked about doing several years ago, but the more immediate work of the Two-Person Set and figuring out how to present various idea absorbed that effort.

I am also contemplating hosting a “Yang-style Open Practice” at a nearby martial arts studio, but we’ll see if that idea ripens and others are interested.

In the meantime, expect small essays, articles, and the occasional exercise post as I move forward with compiling and organizing the extant body of work related to Laughing Ox, Taiji, and The Interoceptive Way. I intend to post a piece on the purpose of solo form practice this week.
